Graduate Coordinators and Department Chairs are critical to helping us gain full benefits and competing with UF's peer institutions. GAU is committed to working with our closest supervisors and advisors to make UF a great place to teach and research.
Over the years, more and more coordinators and chairs have realized that they share a basic interest with GAU - increasing the competitiveness of our salary and benefit packages so we can attract the finest scholars to UF and keep them comfortable while they are here. Coordinators and Chairs know what graduate assistants know - that the majority of their students make their decision about where to go to school based on which institution can give them the most support through fellowship and employment packages.
Each year, dozens of coordinators and department chairs work through their staff and make time for GAU representatives to answer questions about the union and about working at UF. If you would like one of our representatives to speak at your next departmental meeting, please contact organizing@ufgau.org.
The greatest shortcoming of UF Adminsitration has been its
failure to educate its graduate coordinators and supervisors about
contract maintenance and the rights and duties of management.
Grad supervisors are given very few tools with which to successfully
achieve their goals. GAU is committed to answering the questions
of any grad supervisor, chair, or program director. Feel free to
contact us, or to review the latest version of the Collective
Bargaining Agreement.
