Our union actively supports locally owned and operated businesses because we feel the fight against the corporatization of higher education begins in the local community.

If you are hesitant to join Graduate Assistants United (GAU) for financial reasons, then calculate how much you spend a year on copying, books, pizza, beer, lingerie, eyewear, hardware, restaurants, bicycle/automobile repairs and parts and the care and feeding of your pets. Our discount partners offer anywhere from a 10-20% discount and a GAU membership will only cost you 1% of your biweekly paycheck. Calculate the savings. Then calculate the cost of a membership-- you'll find that a GAU membership can actually save you money!

Of course, we hope you join GAU because you believe graduate employees do valuable work for the university. Join us in the struggle over a number of issues, including increasing stipends, academic freedom, and full health coverage.
