GAU General Membership meeting Minutes
Chaired by Craig Boylstein.
I. Amend/Approval of last general meeting minutes
--agenda approved with addition of AGEL Day of Solidarity for International students, Conferences/Rallies, and Release Time workers discussion
minutes:
--motion by John Ronan to supplement document: "Release Time protocol", agreed
minutes approved unanimously
II. Committee Chair/ Treasury reports
Treasurer Tim Palmer passed around expense report
--Reported we budgeted more than we spent
--next meeting will report on revenue
Bargaining, Frank G
--8:30am caucus, 9am bargaining mtg
--room 205 Tigert
Publications, Henri
--please contribute submissions
--March 1st deadline, will send out after Spring break
Grievance report, Craig R
--good news on plagiarism charges, TA not responsible
--2 intellectual property disputes
--problems with the mailing list from Dean's office
--James T will give Craig R notes from USF bargaining because there is useful information for potential
grievances
III. Health Care, Frank G:
--Rally April 1st, "Spring fever" theme, 11-2
IV. Secretary election
motion to table for next general meeting by John Ronan, passed
Catherine Garland from Astronomy interested, will be acting secretary and meet with past Secretary Candi Churchill
V other business
--AGEL day of solidarity, Jody Nettleton (USF GAU president)
Feb. 21st, teach outs, lunch on the lawn, Erica interested
--UFF steering committee report, James T
--American Federation of Teachers funding large campaign for UFF membership drive, steward model
--new council will include local presidents, good thing for strengthening statewide campus union
movement
--Discussion on time release
--formal proposal or motion not brought forth, John Ronan brought up discussion on efficiency and
management of time releasers, discussed without decision
--conferences: CGEU, AGEL (members who want to attend should see co-Presidents)
**Next exec mtg Monday February 4th 6pm 240 Norman, all members welcome
--Feb 5th education rally in capitol, bus seats free
