**** HEALTH INSURANCE SURVEY ****
GAU is still trying to bargain for health benefits
for all graduate assistants at UF.  But we do not
have reliable data regarding the marital status,
number of children, current health insurance needs,
etc., of graduate assistants.  So we posted a survey 
on the internet at 
http://grove.ufl.edu/~goeddeke/health.htm  
It is important that all graduate assistants complete 
this survey.  If you haven't yet completed the survey,
please take 5 minutes and complete the survey now, 
even if you are graduating this semester.  Thanks.

UNFAIR LABOR PRACTICE SUIT BEING FILED
GAU is in the process of filing an Unfair Labor Practice
suit against the State, for it's refusal to negotiate a
contract for next year, as required by law.  Apparently,
the State Board of Education was given orders from the
Governor's Office not to bargain with us.  This is a clear
violation of labor law.

GAU MEMBERSHIP SPECIAL
Are you a union member yet?  The more members we have, the
more bargaining power we have to secure health benefits,
pay increases, better working conditions, etc.  UFF is 
having a special membership drive, and is allowing people
to join the union now, without having to pay dues until
September 1.  You can download a membership form at:

Please complete the membership now, and drop it in the 
mail to us. Your union is only as strong as you make it!
