GSC Meeting, Thursday October 17 ============================================================ BARGAINING RATIFICATION VOTE - Wednesday and Thursday, October 16 & 17! We need to ratify our tentative agreement. The ratification election will be today and tommorrow, Wednesday and Thursday, October 16th and 17th, from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. It will be held at the Reitz Union Collonade. All graduate research and teaching assistants are encouraged to vote. Highlights of the new contract include: a 2.5% pay increase for all graduate assistants with satisfactory performance (effective October 1), a commitment from the University to more formally discuss health benefits issues, and greater protection to assure those employees paid from contracts and grants are paid at least the minimum stipend. When the State transfers control of UF to the UF Board of Trustees on January 7, a ratified agreement will be a stabilizing influence during the transition. GRADUATE STUDENT COUNCIL MEETING The Graduate Student Council will be holding its monthly meeting on Thursday, October 17, at 6:30 PM at the Brain Institute on Newall Drive, just north of Shands. The theme of this meeting is "Working Together". Several campus organizations, including GAU, will be present and discussing ways we can all work together toward our common goals like health benefits for graduate assistants. Please come if you have the opportunity.
