GAU Rally Conclusion
Attend the Rally to Defend your Work Rights
Friday at February 20th, we will have our GAU Rally at 5pm in front of Tigert Hall (Location below). Join our partner organizations and us as we show the unity of graduate assistants across campus, and tell UF that we deserve respect. This is THE event to be at, to build support for GAU, and to fight against bills like HB995. Join us, help rally your department and circles, and get as many GAs as possible to this event!
SB1296/HB995 is a horrible bill for GAU, because it would add extra mandates on our annual recertification elections that would end GAU within a year. Without GAU as the union for graduate assistants, all of the wins we have earned over the last 50 years would be in jeopardy. Gatorgradcare exists because it is in our contract. Our minimum stipend exists because of the contract. Paid leave, academic freedom, and even our grievance process would go away entirely, with no recourse for keeping these protections that so many GAs rely on.
If this bill passes, our only option to survive as a union is to get 60% of GAs to pay membership dues. With over 4000 graduate assistants at UF (everyone receiving this email), this is a tough task that has not been accomplished by any of our sister unions at other Florida universities.

WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK:
what would it take to make you a dues paying member? What is holding you back from being more involved, if you aren't? What can GAU do better, to help us reach our goal of 60% and save our union from being decertified? Please let us know by filling out this short form:
