Enforcing  your rights

Have Your Rights Been Violated?

Picture
Through collective bargaining, we negotiate our Contract. Through the grievance procedure, we enforce it!

The University of Florida is huge, with over 50,000 students and 40,000 employees.

If something goes wrong, you need a strong voice to fight on your behalf. When you’re taking classes, teaching, and doing research all at once, you might not have the time or the energy to fight these battles on your own.

That’s what GAU is for and this is why it’s valuable to be a GAU member!

Grievance Process

If one of the rights or benefits guaranteed to you by the Contract or by your Letter of Appointment is denied to you as a GAU member, we are here to help.

The grievance procedure provides a standardized process through which GAU represents and works to address member concerns.
Someone from our Grievance Committee will be there with you every step of the way to make sure that your benefits are protected and that your rights are enforced.

Discuss your options with us within 25 days of the incident and before filing other forms of resolution (e.g. complaint to Human Resources), to avoid possibly interfering with the grievance process or losing ability to file a grievance. Please complete the Grievance Form below and one of our Grievance Committee members will respond as soon as they can!

To learn more about the Grievance Committee, please visit our Committees page, and contact us if you would like to join!

    Grievance Form

NOTE: The purpose of this form is to provide the members of the GAU Grievance Committee with detailed information about your situation & to allow us to assist you as best and as quickly as possible. All information provided will remain confidential.
An non-ufl.edu email address is preferred for communication with the GAU grievance team about sensitive matters.
Please note that you have 25 days after the incident to file a grievance
In preparation for meeting with a member of the grievance committee, please have available any supporting documentation you may have regarding your issue.
